2016 Season - Pre Season Guide

The 22nd year of the BUMS will officially start with the 2016 BUMS NFL Fantasy Draft which will take place at BUMS Headquarters from 7:30pm on Sunday September 4th preceded by a burger and hot dog banquet courtesy of Cheryl from 6pm. I hope as many of you as possible can make the draft in person. If not we will have the usual alternative ways of selecting your players. Attached is the player price spreadsheet including all the players 2015 scores & how much a Franchise player will cost you if he is cut by his current owner. Remember if you cut your franchise player you’ll have to pay him his signed salary for the rest of the season/two seasons. Defending champion Ron is paying Steeler RB Le’Veon Bell $2m this year, so has only an $8m budget to spend on his eight players. Meantime Andy H, Marcus and Johnnie join Ron in getting a supplemental draft pick at the end of round 5. Also we welcome newcomer Alex who has taken over the franchise formerly known as the Weymouth Bay Bargaineers. His (most excellently named) Old England Patriots have no franchise players and so Alex has a supplemental pick at the end of both rounds 3 and 5. Big names who are now available include Quarterback Drew Brees, Running Backs Matt Forte, Eddie Lacy and DeMarco Murray& Receivers Antonio Brown, Alshon Jeffrey and Brandon Marshall as they have all ended their 2 year Franchise designation and become free agents. They are released onto the open market together with 22 rookies - see the rookie report attached. The player pool is based on the depth charts listed by Ourlads.com last week. Draft Order and Franchise Players We pick in reverse points order from last year’s final tables so AP has the first pick in the draft but rookie Alex and not Ron has the final choice. The full draft order, budgets available & franchise players are also attached. In his annual re-naming and in homage to John Botten, David S changes the Karori 74ers to the Karori Kostcutters while Craig (who will spend this season in Canada) becomes owner of the Leamington Porcupines (and you thought the Canadian National Animal was Beaver didn’t you?) It is actually, so where Craig got Porcupines from is beyond me. Trading DaysYou will have the usual two opportunities to make changes. Trading Day 1 will be at HQ from 3pm on Sunday 16th October before week 6’s games and Trading Day 2 will be before week 10 on Sunday 13th November. Season Kick-Off Game The first game of the season is a repeat of the Superbowl matchup as the Denver Broncos entertain the Carolina Panthers and is played overnight on Thursday September 8th. We’ll be getting together on the evening of Friday 9th September to watch it. Venue to be confirmed. Don’t forget to let me know how you intend to draft.
